How safe is to do amniocentesis in pregnancy?
Hi I am 38 years old, first time pregnant. Because of my age MD advised amniocentesis procedure which is scheduled to be done in my 17th week. I am terrified learning the side affect could be fatal for the baby, and I am not sure what to do. I don’t know anyone who did it , so if you are a woman who have an experience with this procedure, or know more about it please let me know!
Thanks in advance!
I don’t know if I would want to take that chance..but at 38 you might want to? I think if you’re willing to raise the baby, regardless of if they have some kind of health condition , then don’t do it. If having the amniocentesis is going to affect what you decide to do with the baby..then do it.
How can I locate pregnant girls who want to put their unborn child up for adoption?
I have spoken to an adoption attorney and she says the hardest part of trying to adopt is locating a young lady who wants to put her child up for adoption. I am 38 years old and my husband and I have tried and tried for years, been through fertility treatments and nothing has worked. I just don’t think I will ever get pregnant. We are so ready to be parents, but I really don’t know how/where to start looking. Any advice would be appreciated.
how to getting pregnant at age of 38 years?
I am 26 years old and My wife is going to be 38 years old this week. this is second marriage of my wife she already have 2 daughter . We are planning to have our a child. Can this age difference can affect to get pregnant?
we are trying from last year for getting pregnant . what we have to do for getting pregnant. we are consulting a doctor also.
Hi honey…this is such a hard thing to go through…I know! I’ve been there!
I lost a twin when I was around 5-6 weeks pregnant, however I went on to have a very healthy pregnancy and now have a beautiful 3 1/2 year old daughter.
This is sometimes called “vanishing twin syndrome” and refers to the loss of a twin. Chances are pretty good that her second baby will stay put though. This occurs in about 1 out of every 8 pregnancies!! Most women just do not know they have miscarried. I wouldn’t have known that I did if not for my ultrasound showing up traces of my second baby being there and the nurse telling me later on (no, they didn’t tell me when I had the ultrasound…just said that “Something was there, but now it’s not.” How sensitive of them!)
I wish her well with this pregnancy and hope baby number 2 stays put!! It can be so devistating!!
Is it unrealistic to expect to have a baby at 38?
I’m 38 years old. I’ve just gotten married and hoping to have a baby. Is it unrealistic to expect to get pregnant at my age? I don’t know alot about fertility.
just keep trying, have you tried using opk to test for ovulation time im nearly 39 and this is baby #7 and i havnt had any problems concieving at my age
I am 38 as well and am trying to get pregnant. There are some biological issues with trying to get pregnant over 35, that’s just reality. While lots of women do get pregnant after 35, it’s not as easy as you think. I would go to your doctor and have the quality of your eggs checked out first. Please read this article taken from this webisite:
As a woman ages, her fertility decreases. This decrease occurs slowly up until about 35 years of age, when fertility falls even faster. This drop in fertility is seen even in women who have perfectly normal, regular menstrual cycles. In fact for some women, fertility may no longer be possible five to 10 years before menopause. Diminished fertility, also called diminished ovarian reserve, is thought to reflect both a decreased number of eggs and a decrease in egg quality.
To test for diminished ovarian reserve, doctors use the clomiphene challenge test and day 3 FSH testing. This involves measuring your levels of the hormones FSH and estradiol on the third day of your cycle. Then, from day 5 through day 9, you take 100mg clomiphene (two tablets) each day. A day or two later, FSH level is measured again. If the FSH value is high, that indicates your fertility potential is diminished due to age. Values of FSH above 10 indicate that you may have difficulty conceiving or carrying a pregnancy. Values over 14-15 indicate that your chance of success would probably be nil without egg donation and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
See if your doctor can perform that clomephine challenge test. That will determine if you are truly fertile or not. Just because you get a period every month doesnt’ necessarily mean you are fertile. I had the same test performed and thankfully my eggs are quite good. So, I am trying to get pregnant. So far, nothing but I am hopeful.
If you truly want to know if it is possible, get that test done. Then you will be able to make an informed decision about how to get pregnant.
